Ribbon-cutting ceremonies

RIBBON CUTTING: PATRIOT FLOORS & MORE




A year after it opened, one of Jefferson City’s newest businesses held ribbon-cutting ceremonies last week, with the help of city officials and the Chamber of Commerce.

Patriot Floors & More, owned by Christina and Jim Huskey, opened under its current name in October of 2014. The business was purchased from Bill Henry, who retired after many successful years running Bill Henry Carpet.

Though they have only had their own business for a year, Christina and Jim are certainly no strangers to the carpet and flooring business.

Christina’s dad was in the carpet business for 50 years, getting his start in Dalton, Georgia, and then opening Gaston Carpets when the family moved to Lenoir City. He taught Jim how to install carpet after he and Christina were married, and Jim went on to work 25 years for David’s Carpet after the Huskeys moved to Jefferson City.

The business offers several different types of flooring: hardwoods, engineered hardwoods, laminates, tile and carpet. Christina said they also have different levels of carpet, depending on a customer’s budget.

The family business also includes the Huskeys’ two daughters, Alisha and Maleah.

Installation is overseen by Jim, with a lot of help from their son-in-law, Brandon Sanders, and Maleah’s fiance´, Christian Chapman.

Christina said Patriot Floors recently hired another floor installation crew, because the business is growing.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday.
