Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held last Tuesday for Green Acres Towing in Jefferson City.
Chamber of Commerce members and city officials helped owner Carol Chestnutt snip the ribbon on the still-new business, located on Hinchey Hollow Road.
Green Acres Towing is a full-service wrecker and towing business, also offering auto and truck repair. Personnel will respond 24 hours a day, for lock-outs, flat tires, or other breakdowns where assistance is needed. Chestnutt’s husband, David, has been in the wrecker business for several years, but health issues no longer allow him to work. About a year ago, he encouraged her to start the business, saying he would teach her what she needed to know.
After a lot of on-the-job training, and good support from other area towers, she has learned all aspects of the business - and even earned the nickname “Tow Girl.”
Carol grew up in Jefferson County, the daughter of Bobby and Wilma Rhodes. Her grandson, Austin, is helping her this summer and will be writing a book about what they do, called “The Adventures of Tow Boy.”
Chestnutt said she tries to be fair with everyone and sees the business as her opportunity to serve people.
Hours at the Green Acres Towing Garage are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturday by appointment.
To contact the business, call (865) 475-9776.
