This esteemed Russian company brings to the stage one of the most magical and well-known works from the classical ballet repertoire. This stunning fantasy ballet is inspired by the German legend of Odette, a beautiful princess turned into a swan at the hand of an evil sorcerer. With majestic choreography, an unforgettable score and exquisite costumes and sets, it is easy to see why Swan Lake continues to earn the adoration of classical ballet enthusiasts and attract newcomers. The company was founded in 1994 by Elena Radchenko, legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet, and is dedicated to preserving the grand ballet traditions while nurturing young dancers throughout Russia.

The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980’s. During this time many of the great dancers and choreographers of the Soviet Union’s ballet institutions were exercising their new-found creative freedom by starting new, vibrant companies dedicated not only to the timeless tradition of classical Russian Ballet, but to invigorate this tradition as the Russians began to accept new developments in the dance from around the world.

Today, the Russian National Ballet Theatre is its own institution, with over 50 dancers of singular instruction and vast experience, many of whom have been with the company since its inception.

Give a listen to “Old Photographs,” the closing track on Tommy Emmanuel’s It’s Never Too Late, and you’ll hear the distinctive squeak of finger noise as he runs his hands across the frets of his Maton Signature TE guitar. It’s an imperfection in the performance that players typically try to eliminate in practice, and in the hands of a less-secure musician, that sound could easily be edited from the recording. But in their own way, those imperfections are perfect. For all of the masterful technique and flashy ability that’s brought Emmanuel recognition among the world’s greatest guitarists, that finger noise lets the audience know he is one of them. That click conveys warmth and humanity; and it demonstrates an honesty in the sound.

Given his first guitar at age four, Emmanuel pursued music with a passion throughout his youth in a variety of bands. Once solo, Emmanuel earned standing ovations from audiences, and received two Grammy® nominations, two ARIA Awards from the Australian Recording Industry Association, and repeated honors in the Guitar Player magazine reader’s poll. Emmanuel was honored by the late Chet Atkins as a Certified Guitar Player, making him one of only five musicians to receive the C.G.P. distinction from the master.

Twenty-five-year-old Australian Joe Robinson is considered uniquely gifted as a virtuoso guitarist and singer/songwriter. GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Now in their 72nd year of touring, the Atlanta Pops Orchestra is teaming up with former Celtic Woman vocalist Chloë Agnew for an evening of music not to be forgotten at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center on St. Patrick’s Day, Friday, March 17th at 7:30 PM.

The Atlanta Pops Orchestra is best known for entertaining audiences worldwide with a diverse repertoire of arrangements from movies, Broadway shows, and popular tunes. Ireland's Chloë Agnew rose to fame as one of the original members of the internationally acclaimed singing group Celtic Woman, with whom she honed her rich, beautiful voice and warm spirit. After touring with Celtic Woman for nearly ten years, she is now on her way to become a musical sensation all on her own. Chloë performs her live show, An Irish Heart, with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra for a program of Irish songs, beloved standards, movie tunes and Broadway musical favorites. This special engagement features new arrangements written specially to show off Chloë’s unique vocal range, along with the timeless sounds of the fabulous Atlanta Pops.

Health Council Chair Debra Shultz announced that a meet and greet reception is planned for people interested in participating in Jefferson Joins in March. The event takes place at the Shepherd Inn in Dandridge, graciously offered as a venue by Health Council member Karen Everett. Various grants and other incentives are available to groups that promote the program.

Health Council members were encouraged to advocate for Jefferson Joins at their churches and non-denominational faith-based organizations. Stacy Baugues, the Healthier Tennessee representative, reminded everyone that this movement includes people from all walks of life all across Tennessee coming together to improve community health.
