Dr. Mukesh K. Sharma Joins Tennova’s Medical Staff

Dr. Sharma is a distinguished heart specialist with significant experience as an interventional cardiologist. He specializes in a broad range of coronary and peripheral interventions. Dr. Sharma has a special interest in treating patients with structural heart disease, valve disorders, cardiomyopathy, and those needing pacemakers and defibrillators.
As a medical director of cardiovascular research, Dr. Sharma has been a principal investigator for numerous cardiovascular clinical trials. He will be joining Tennova Healthcare’s Cardiovascular Research team at Turkey Creek Medical Center, which offers patients new therapies and devices for the treatment of carotid artery stenosis, coronary artery disease, heart failure, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, atrial fibrillation, stroke prevention, and peripheral vascular disease.
Most recently, Dr. Sharma was in private practice in Oak Ridge. He has served the community for nearly 22 years. He earned his medical degree from Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, India. He completed an internship and residency at Christian Medical College and Hospital; and a residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City. Dr. Sharma also completed fellowship training in interventional cardiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease.
