As part of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce “Go Local” campaign, the current Standard Banner contains special advertisements promoting spending $20 on the 20th with local merchants.
The ads – on Pages 6-7A of The Standard Banner – urge residents to spend at least $20 they might otherwise spend out of county on January 20, 2015 supporting local businesses and helping the county’s tax base.
* If all 19,573 Jefferson County households spent an additional $20 locally, the Chamber calculates that the result would be $391,460 in local economic activity each month. On an annual basis, those sales would generate nearly $130,000 in additional sales taxes.
