Tennessee Promise Mentor Recruitment

Dear Community Leader:

I hope you will take a moment or two over the Labor Day Weekend to look at the attached documents concerning Tennessee Promise and the affect it has already had on our school and county.  As you will see, the number of students we have had to apply for Tennessee Promise has increased dramatically each year, and the Class of 2016 will be no exception.

You will also see that our need for strong mentors has increased accordingly, and that our target goal for this year is 61.  Personally, I think we can get more than that, and I believe we will need more than that to adequately help our students with the process of completing the requirements of the scholarship and applying for their particular college.  

Please, please, PLEASE strongly consider being a mentor for a few students this year.  By just giving 10 hours---or even less---over the next year, you can not only help to transform our county, but the life of a young person as well.  Tennessee Achieves (the organization tasked with handling all of the details associated with the Tennessee Promise Scholarship) has created a dashboard on their website where you can track our county’s progress and the state as a whole.
