Directed by C-N associate professor Kyle Biery, the ensemble cast of ten is led by sophomore Amie McGaha as the irrepressible Anne and includes senior Austin Olive (Otto Frank), junior Laura-Kate Gonyea (Edith Frank), and sophomores Andrew Campbell (Mr. Van Daan) and Lindsey Talley (Mrs. Van Daan).
“It’s a story that packs a punch,” said Biery. “It deals directly with the Holocaust, so you expect it to be thought-provoking, challenging, perhaps disturbing even, and it is all those things.”
The Pulitzer prize-winning stage play is adapted from Anne’s original writings by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett and brings to life the years the Franks spent in hiding. Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank's remarkable real-life diary has since become a world classic.
“It is a story of hope and the triumph of the human spirit through suffering and loss and is heartwarming, unexpectedly funny and altogether inspiring,” explained Biery. “It is everything that a drama should be.”
