The 15th class of Adult Leadership Jefferson County is inviting the entire community to participate in the upcoming “$cholar Dollar$” Day to support tnAchieves, a last-dollar scholarship and mentoring program. Roadblocks and store entrances will provide designated donation sites throughout the county. Residents will have the opportunity to give to this scholarship program which directly benefits graduates of Jefferson County High School.
“Our goal is to raise $20,000 AND awareness of this great program provided to students in our county,” said Adult Leadership Class President Brian Williams. “As leaders in the community we want to provide the next generation a stronger educational foundation.” In Jefferson County, tnAchieves received 189 applications with 79 projected to enter community college this fall. tnAchieves expects a 20% increase in applications for the class of 2013, so community support and mentor involvement will be critical to its success.
* The Adult Leadership Class Project is being organized through the Education Foundation on behalf of the tnAchieves.
