The Jefferson County Republican Women and the Republican Women of the Future will bee hosting a debate for the Republican candidates of 11th and 17th House Districts, both representing portions of Jefferson County, on June 15, 2012.  The event will be held at the Jefferson County Rescue Squad building, located at 915 Industrial Park Road in Dandridge.

Three (3) candidates have qualified to run in the Republican Primary for 17th House District, serving portions of Jefferson and Sevier County, and two (2) have qualified to run in the 11th House District, serving Cocke County and portions of Jefferson and Greene County. Candidates qualified to appear on the Republican ballot and invited to appear for the 11th district race, in alphabetical order, are: Jeremy Faison and Phil Morgan, Jr. Candidates qualified to appear on the Republican ballot and invited to appear for the 17th district race, in alphabetical order, are: Larry Boggs, Andrew Farmer and Roger Griffith.

Doors will open at 6:00pm to allow attendees to meet with candidates before the debates begin at 7:00pm. While the debates are solely for candidates for the 11th and 17th House Districts representing portions of Jefferson County, Republican candidates for local and state offices representing Jefferson County are welcome and encouraged to attend and meet with constituents prior to and following the debate.

Submissions for questions to be asked by the moderator will be accepted from the audience in written form prior to the debate. Submissions should be relatively short and must be phrased/directed for all candidates to provide a response outlining their position on the proposed question. Similar questions may be combined to streamline the debate process. No questions perceived to directly attack any candidate will be asked.

2012 is a huge election year for Republicans in Jefferson County, in Tennessee and across the United States. Join us on June 15th to learn more about the Republican candidates vying for your vote in Tennessee’s 11th and 17th House Districts.
