GOP Debate for 8th Senatorial District
The Jefferson County Republican Women and Republican Women of the Future are hosting a debate for Tennessee’s newly-numbered 8th Senatorial District (formerly the 4th Senatorial District) on June 22, 2012. The event will be held at the Jefferson County Rescue Squad building, located at 915 Industrial Park Rd. in Dandridge.
Four (4) Republican candidates have qualified for their names to appear on the ballot in the August 2, 2012 primary in Jefferson County. Candidates qualified to appear on the Republican ballot and invited to appear, in alphabetical order, are: Jeffrey Brantley (Union County), Cynthia Bundren Jackson (Hawkins County), Frank Niceley (Jefferson County), and Hobart Rice (Jefferson County).
Doors will open at 6:00pm to allow attendees to meet with candidates before the debate begins at 7:00pm. While the debate is solely for candidates for the 8th Senatorial District, Republican candidates for local offices and state offices representing portions of Jefferson County are welcomed and encouraged to attend and meet with constituents prior to and following the debate.
Submissions for questions to be asked by the moderator will be accepted from the audience in written form prior to the debate. Submissions should be relatively short and must be phrased/directed for all candidates to provide a response outlining their position on the question. Similar questions may be combined to streamline the debate process. No questions perceived to directly attack any candidate will be asked.
2012 is a huge election year for Republicans in Jefferson County, in Tennessee and across the United States.
